Odoo is a general-purpose ERP: the same software serves an accounting firm, an NGO, a trading company or the Swiss subsidiary of a foreign group. The configuration, however, should not be generic. Each sector has its own processes (how a deal is documented, how an expense is attached to a fund, how stock is tracked without ever being physically held), its own vocabulary, and often regulatory constraints of its own. Configuring Odoo without accounting for these differences produces a tool that works, but that teams end up working around because it doesn't fit their day-to-day reality.
AX-Fiduciaire is established in Geneva and works in direct contact with these sectors every day, as an accounting firm first, an Odoo integrator second. The four pages below detail the issues specific to each.
Accounting firms
An accounting firm adopting Odoo, for itself or on behalf of its clients, juggles an organisation built around client files, tight statutory deadlines (VAT, payroll, year-end closings) and often several companies to track in parallel within a multi-client framework. The configuration must respond to this portfolio logic rather than that of a single company. See Odoo for accounting firms.
International organisations and NGOs
Geneva hosts a significant number of international organisations and NGOs, whose accounting operations differ markedly from those of a commercial company: tracking by fund and by donor, traceability requirements for donor reports, specific tax and customs statuses, financial years sometimes aligned with a project's calendar rather than the civil year. Odoo can meet these needs, provided it is configured for this logic from the outset. See Odoo for international organisations and NGOs.
Commodity trading
Commodity trading, a major economic activity in Geneva, is distinguished by flows that often never touch Swiss soil, margin tracking by deal rather than by product, intensive use of multiple currencies, and Incoterms that determine the transfer of ownership and risk. These specificities require a well-built analytical accounting structure from the very design of the chart of accounts. See Odoo for commodity trading.
Swiss subsidiaries of foreign groups
A Swiss subsidiary must simultaneously meet local statutory obligations — the Code of Obligations, Swiss VAT, payroll and Swissdec — and the reporting expected by its parent company, with its own chart of accounts, its own currency and its own calendar. These two requirements don't automatically overlap and must be anticipated together in the configuration. See Odoo for Swiss subsidiaries of foreign groups.
A deliberately short list
This list does not claim to cover every sector that could use Odoo. It reflects the Geneva economic fabric as AX-Fiduciaire encounters it in practice: a financial and fiduciary centre, a concentration of international organisations, one of the world's leading commodity trading hubs, and numerous regional headquarters of foreign groups. Other sectors can certainly benefit from Odoo; we prefer to publish a sector page only where we have an established practice to bring to it, rather than multiplying generic pages. For an Odoo configuration outside these four profiles, the general offering remains described on our Odoo ERP page.
